ITAM Analyst III – Software Asset Management
J-00035ContractHybridReston, VA$44 to $61 per hour (estimated)You will support a software asset management modernization effort, managing software contract, entitlement, renewal, usage, ownership, compliance, and vendor data. This is a long-term hybrid contract based in Reston, VA, with work spanning renewals, audit preparation, cost optimization, and CMDB alignment. If you enjoy turning messy licensing data into governed, reliable records that drive real spending decisions, this role will keep you engaged.
What you will do
- Manage software asset management activities across the full lifecycle, including intake, request, approval, procurement support, assignment, entitlement tracking, renewal, reclamation, retirement, and compliance review.
- Maintain accurate records for licenses, entitlements, subscriptions, renewals, contracts, service agreements, warranties, vendor contacts, application owners, usage data, and lifecycle information.
- Analyze software asset data to identify unused licenses, duplicate applications, renewal risks, data gaps, compliance issues, shadow IT indicators, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Perform license reconciliation, usage review, exception reporting, audit evidence gathering, and SLA health check activities.
- Generate and distribute software, compliance, renewal, usage, lifecycle status, and vendor performance reports and trend analyses.
- Support vendor governance, including software catalog updates, renewal tracking, SLA review, billing accuracy reviews, and contract validation.
- Collaborate with ITAM, Procurement, Finance, Security, Legal, Workforce, Endpoint, Support Center, Product, application owners, and vendor teams to resolve software asset issues.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements that reduce manual work, improve data quality, increase automation, and strengthen license governance, and contribute to documentation and training materials.
What you need
- 5+ years as an ITAM Analyst working with Flexera
- Hands-on software asset management experience across entitlements, renewals, and compliance
- Experience with license reconciliation and SAM reporting
- Experience with CMDB alignment and ITSM platforms
- Experience with vendor governance activities
- Experience using Jira
- Familiarity with SaaS management tools
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to participate in onsite meetings, vendor reviews, audits, operational activities, and cross-functional working sessions as needed
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and escalate risks or blockers before they impact delivery
Compensation
$44 to $61 per hour
This is a W2 contract engagement. Compensation is the hourly rate stated above, plus any overtime required by law. No health, dental, vision, retirement or paid leave benefits are offered at this time, beyond what applicable law requires.
